1. Kashvee Gautam - Kashvee Gautam was sold for a whopping INR 2 Crore to Gujarat Giants despite her base price at just INR 10 lakh. She earned a massive 20 times of her base amount and became the joint most expensive player at the auction.

2. Vrinda Dinesh - The uncapped Indian player went for a whopping INR 1.3 Crore to UP Warriorz with her base price at just INR 10 Lakh. She earned 13 times of her base price.

3. Annabel Sutherland - The Australian all rounder went for a whopping INR 2 Crore with her base price at just INR 40 lakh. Hence, she earned five times of her base price.

The auction for the Women's Premier League 2024 saw several big names from international cricket going unsold. Let's take a look at them one by one.

1. Chamari Athapaththu - The Sri Lankan captain has been in tremendous form this year as she's scored 470 runs from 16 innings in T20Is in 2023 at a strike rate of 130.91. She has also scalped eight wickets in the shortest format this year. Thanks to her imperious touch, Athapaththu was expected to go for big bucks in the WPL 2024 auction. However, she failed to attract any buyers with no team showing any interest in her to even buy her at her base price of INR 30 Lakh.

2. Deandra Dottin - Deandra Dottin is one of the top all rounders in women T20Is having vast experience of 127 matches scoring 2697 runs and picking 62 wickets in the format. Dottin, who put her base price at INR 50 Lakh, also failed to attract any buyers and went unsold. Notably, she was picked by Gujarat Giants in the 2023 edition but was removed from the squad ahead of the season as she was deemed unfit.

3. Tara Norris - The left-arm seamer from USA became the first player to pick a fifer in the first edition of the Women's Premier League. However, she was released by Delhi Capitals despite being the third-highest wicket-taker (7 wickets from 5 matches) of the side in the first edition. Norris failed to find any buyers in the second edition and her left arm seam brilliance will be missed in the second edition of the WPL.

4. Nadine de Klerk - Th South African all rounder who had her base price at INR 30 Lakh also went unsold. She has scored 409 runs from 45 T20Is and also has 36 wickets to her name.

5. Tammy Beaumont - The England batter has also another big name to go unsold as she failed to attract any buyers. She had set her base price at INR 30 lakh and has over 1721 runs to her name from 99 T20Is. 

Here's looking at the top five most expensive players at the Women's Premier League 2023 auction. The joint most expensive players were Australia all rounder Annabel Sutherland and uncapped India player Kashvee Gautam. Sutherland was bought by Delhi Capitals for INR 2 Crore while Gautam went for INR 2 Crore. Another uncapped India player Vrinda Dinesh was the second most expensive player who went for a whopping INR 1.30 Crore to UP Warriorz. 

South Africa fast bowler Shabnim Ismail was the third most expensive player getting sold for INR 1.20 Crore to Mumbai Indians. Meanwhile, Australia batter Phoebe Litchfield went for INR 1 Crore to Gujarat Giants.

All teams have completed their squads ahead of the second season and all have 18 players in their squad.
