WTC 2023-25 Points Table: Here's a look at latest standings after Australia's win over India in Sydney
Australia victory also meant they qualified for the WTC Final 2025
In a historic feat for Australia, the side managed to topple the Indian team in the fifth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Led by Pat Cummins, Australia won the series 3-1 and reclaimed the trophy for themselves after a decade.
It is worth noting that the series win has also seen the Aussies reach the final of the World Test Championship. Furthermore, the win sees Australia sit in second place in the standings of the WTC as well. With the loss in Sydney, the Indian team sits in third place in the standings with a win percentage of 50.00 and can drop to fourth if Sri Lanka secures a 2-0 win over Australia in their upcoming series.
The Indian team struggled throughout the recently concluded series. The side opened the series with a win in Perth. Things looked up after their comfortable win in the first Test. However, everything went from bad to worse after the first Test.
The Aussies managed to register a win in the second Test of the series in Adelaide, and after the clash in Brisbane was drawn, the last two games of the series in Melbourne and Sydney were won by Australia as well. It is worth noting that India had their hands on the BGT for several years, and the win in the series for Australia meant that the decade-long dominance of the Indian team had finally come to an end.
Australia will be taking on South Africa in the WTC final later this year. South Africa had already qualified for the final and occupied first place in the WTC standings as well.
