WTC 2023-25 Points Table: Here's a look at latest standings after England's record win against Pakistan in Multan

Team England pulled off a historic win over Pakistan in the first Test of the three-game Test series at the Multan Cricket Stadium in Multan. The Test match was a run-fest for four days out five, however, the fifth day resulted in the inevitable. 

Pakistan won the toss and rightfully elected to bat first on a flat track. They had a great first innings as they batted till Tea time of Day 2 and put up a massive 556 runs on board, courtesy of centuries from Abdullah Shafique, Shan Masood, Salman Agha, and a valuable knock from Saud Shakeel.  

Coming to bat, the tourists had a massive challenge but some quality knocks helped them cruise through. Zak Crawley's 78 at the top was a promising start for the English. But it was the historic 454-run stand between Joe Root and Harry Brook which helped the side take a 267-run lead by positjng a record 823/7. Notably, Root scored a magnificent 262 and likewise, Brook brought up a well-deserved triple century. 

Aiming to get a result out of the game, England bundled out Pakistan for merely 220, eventually winning the game by an innings 47 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Pakistan slip down to last spot in WTC standings

In the World Test Championship 2023-25 points table, England has made a major jump as they hold on to the fourth spot with 93 points and a PCT of 45.59. The Three Lions have so far featured in 17 Test matches in the cycle and have won and drawn one. 

Meanwhile, Pakistan has slipped to the ninth position with 16 points and a PCT of 16.67. Both sides will next be seen in action for the second Test at the same venue, starting October 15.
