'Yes, he had to wait but he is now using his experience very well' - Sarfaraz Khan sees Suryakumar Yadav as inspiration amid Australia series snub
Suryakumar Yadav's selection over Sarfaraz Khan in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy squad irked the Indian fans way too much.
Sarfaraz Khan wasn’t selected again for the Indian Test team for Australia Tests after some great Ranji Trophy performances over the past two years. He now talks about how Suryakumar Yadav didn’t get a chance early on but is now using his experience well.
Khan has become the talk of the town since he was not selected for the upcoming Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be played in the second week of February. Fans, pundits and cricket experts have all given their opinions on the selector’s decision of not choosing him in the squad for the all important series.
On the other hand, fans also reacted to Suryakumar Yadav making it to the Test squad on the back of some great exploits in white-ball cricket. Yadav has experience of playing first-class matches but is yet to make his Test debut. His selection to the Test team was a bit of a surprise and fans felt that Sarfaraz Khan should have received his opportunity.
Sarfaraz, on the other hand, spoke highly of the Mumbai Indian batter and sees him as an inspiration and talks about what he has done over the years. During an interview with journalist Vimal Kumar, Sarfaraz said, “Surya is a very good friend of mine. Whenever we are in the same team, we spend a lot of time together. I learn a lot from him. Yes, he had to wait, but now he is using his experience very well."
“I only focus on hard work. I believe in doing as much hard work as possible. Whatever I have been following, I look to continue that. When I went out to bat, I wanted to repeat what I have been doing the last few years. I am a person who is attached to the ground. I practice a lot, and that's why my form is continuing," he added.
