'Yes to bring some refreshments for the other players' - Srikkanth's cheeky dig at Vijay Shankar after CSK's win over LSG

The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have not been in the best of form in the ongoing 2025 IPL season. However, the men in yellow secured a much-needed victory against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on April 14 in Lucknow.

Following the win, former Indian cricketer Krishnamachari Srikkanth took to social media to congratulate CSK skipper MS Dhoni. In his tweet, the legendary opener appreciated the wicketkeeper’s leadership, composure, and performance, and called the win a resurrection for the team, particularly significant as it came on Tamil New Year.

“What a win for CSK! Dhoni proves once again why he’s called Thala, not just for his performance, but for the calm, commanding way he led his troops. This isn’t just a victory… It feels like the beginning of a resurrection. The roar is back on Tamil New Year!” said Srikkanth on X.

In response to the tweet, a fan questioned whether Tamil Nadu cricketer Vijay Shankar deserved a place in the CSK squad. Srikkanth, known for his humorous takes, replied cheekily that Vijay Shankar is needed in the team to bring refreshments for the other players. The comment quickly went viral, sparking a bunch of reactions across social media platforms.

While some found the remark amusing, it also highlighted the growing criticism surrounding the 34-year-old’s performance. In the match against LSG, the all-rounder managed to score just seven runs. The right-handed batter has played five matches in IPL 2025, with only one half-century, and that too in a losing cause. 

With increasing pressure from fans and cricketing experts, calls are growing for CSK to reconsider his position in the playing XI. As the team is getting ready for their high-voltage clash against long-time rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) on April 20 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, all eyes will be on CSK’s strategy and team selection.
