'You are not only embarrassing yourself but us too' - Wasim Akram rubbishes Hasan Raza's remarks of providing Indian bowlers different ball

Former Pakistan fast-bowler Wasim Akram has subtly criticized ex-Pakistani batter Hasan Raza for suggesting that India receives specially prepared cricket balls, providing them with extra seam and swing advantages in the ongoing World Cup. Raza called for an ICC examination of the balls employed by Rohit Sharma's team. Akram's response has indirectly dismissed these claims, highlighting the need for factual evidence in the world of cricket.

When questioned about the matter, Akram offered a comprehensive response to put the contentious discussion to rest. The former Pakistani pacer elaborated on the ball preparation protocol and the responsibilities of match officials in overseeing these nuances before the game begins. In a light-hearted manner, he quipped that he'd like to partake in what the gossipmongers are indulging in, suggesting the rumours lacked substance.

"I've been reading about this for the last two days. I want to have the same thing these guys are having, sounds like fun. Mind is not there. You are not only embarrassing yourself but us too. See, it's a simple thing. The umpire, surrounded by other match officials, goes to the team bowling first with a box that contains 12 balls.”

He further added, “The bowler(s) picks two balls as per his preference. He then takes the remaining eight balls to the dressing room of the other team. They follow the same drill. He then hands over the balls to the fourth umpire, and all of this takes place in front of other match officials," Akram said on A Sports

Indian bowlers might have learnt something extra: Wasim Akram

In the ongoing ICC World Cup, the Indian fast bowlers have impressively secured a remarkable total of 45 wickets in just seven matches. They've accomplished this at an impressive average of 18.57, with Mohammed Shami alone achieving two five-wicket hauls. During powerplays, the pacers have already bagged 15 wickets. Akram lauded the Indian pace trio of Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj, suggesting they might "might be better" than their peers.

"Kaun sochta hai ye cheezein? (Who thinks like this?). How can a ball swing with a device. The theory is simple, one side is light (rough) one side is heavy (shine). I know the argument is that players from other countries, including ours, haven't been that affective. However, I also think that the Indian bowlers might have learnt something extra. May be they are better and more effecient right now," the 57-year-old added.
