‘You are not studying soon, go on a long holiday’ - Ravi Shastri’s hilarious reply to fan over message for James Anderson
Anderson picked up the wicket of Rohit Sharma on Day 2 of the fourth Test against India.
James Anderson is showing no signs of slowing down and is indded like fine wine, getting finer with age, as the veteran picked up six wickets in the two Tests he has played against India in the ongoing series. In his third match, Anderson picked up the wicket of Indian skipper Rohit Sharma to make it seven as the pacer has troubled the Indian batters so far in the five-match series, being spot on in terms of his line & length on most occasions.
Meanwhile, right before England began their innings with the ball, the focus was on a particular poster in Ranchi, which read, ‘I will start to study when James Anderson retires’. Looking at that poster, former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri commented that Anderson is nowhere close to his retirement and advised the fan to go on a holiday instead.
“You've got to wait, young man. You are not studying soon, go on a long holiday. It is not happening any time soon,” Shastri said on air.
Got to respect and admire the individual for his sheer longevity: Shastri
Anderson made his Test debut in 2003 against Zimbabwe before his teammates Rehan Ahmed and Shoaib Bashir were even born. Indian opener Yashasvi Jaiswal was just one year old at that time, which shows his longevity in the game. Being a seamer, it's difficult to continue playing for 21 years but the Lancashire-born cricketer never showed signs of slowing down and continued his dominance in international cricket.
Touching upon the same, Shastri mentioned that the athlete deserves commendation for his extraordinary durability. “Got to respect and admire the individual for his sheer longevity. To be around for so long and continue playing at the top level is superb,” Shastri added in the commentary box.

Meanwhile, despite losing an early wicket, India looked to be in firm control of the match. Youngsters Jaiswal and Shubman Gill notched up a second wicket partnership of 82 runs, which gave the hosts some much-needed momentum. Jaiswal meanwhile went on to hit a half-century but didn't quite receive a lot of aid from the other end.
