'You can't be that good for such a long period of time' - Michael Clarke expects 'freshened up' Virat Kohli in BGT
"So once he (Kohli) freshens up, and Rohit Sharma the same, you'll see the best of them,” said Clarke.
Virat Kohli is going through a rough patch in his Test career. The right-handed batter scored his last century against West Indies in July 2023. Moreover, he has scored just one 50-plus score in his last 10 innings. With the star India batter's struggle with the spin has become evident, the critics have orchestrated a barrage of opinions with some expecting him to retire from the longest format.
With these developments catching fire, India will tour Australia for the five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy starting on November 22. Ahead of the crucial series, former Australia captain, Michael Clarke expects Kohli to flourish down under as the latter has done it before. Clarke also expected Rohit Sharma to come among runs on the same line as India's captain is also going through a run draught.

"India know they've played well out here in Australia and they'll still come here with plenty of talent & that self-belief, but hopefully fresh. That's the key for the Indian players. Virat Kohli - you can't be that good for such a long period of time and just turn the tap off. So once he freshens up, and Rohit Sharma the same, you'll see the best of them,” Clarke said in Around the Wicket Podcast.
Kohli has had a terrific record playing in Australia. Under him, India won the first Test series in Australia in 2019. Moreover, as a batter, the former India captain is second to none. He has played 25 Tests in Australia and has scored 2042 runs with eight centuries to his name. He scored his maiden Test century in Adelaide in 2012 as he smashed 116 runs off 213 balls as wickets tumbled at the other end. He debuted as India’s Test captain at the same venue in 2014.
