Hosts Australia are all set to lock horns with the West Indies once again in the second Test match of the ongoing two-match Test series at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide on Thursday, December 8. The Aussies registered a staggering 164-run victory in the first red-ball contest with Marnus Labuschagne’s twin centuries being one of the highlights of the game.

The West Indies assistant coach Roddy Estwick on Tuesday spoke with reporters and revealed that his side has unearthed Labuschagne’s batting ‘weakness’.

“We will see his (Labuschagne) uncomfortable areas, his uncomfortable moments, and we’ll try and target them as much as possible. We were impressed the way Joseph (Alzarri Joseph) bowled with the new ball in the second innings. I personally think a big haul is just around the corner, a fifer waiting. We know he’s bowling at 140kph, he just has to get it in the right area,” told Estwick.

“The cricket world is so small you can’t hide and once any team exposes a weakness, the other teams will be having a look,” Estwick added.

The Antiguan pacer Alzarri Joseph bombarded Labuschagne with an endless barrage of short-pitched deliveries during the contest. The 28-year-old Australian who seemed to be terrific touch, was on the backfoot as he played the Windies fast bowler.

I’m sure Jofra Archer will be having a look: Roddy Estwick

Estwick who has mentored England pacer Jofra Archer further stated that Archer will be closely following the contest and ‘ticking boxes’. Archer missed the last Ashes due to a stress fracture to the lower back but is highly likely to feature in England's 2023 Ashes squad.

“I’m sure Jofra Archer, wherever he’s sitting, will be having a look, ticking some boxes; that’s the way cricket goes. But I’m sure if Marnus (Marnus Labuschagne) thinks he has a weakness, he’ll go away and work on it,” stated Estwick.

Meanwhile, Australia will look to clinch the series in the pink-ball Test match in Adelaide starting on December 8, Thursday.
