After a disastrous home outing, Pakistan were back in Tests by defeating England in the Test series. They later toured South Africa and were handed a 2-0 defeat. The West Indies team entered the subcontinent with an intent, but were decimated in the first Test by 127 runs. Thing which had worked for Pakistan against England was creating a spin-friendly track, and they did the same against Caribbeans.
But the same idea backfired them in the second Test as West Indies emerged victorious in the second Test by 120 runs as spinner Jomel Warrican picked up nine wickets across two innings. When Pakistan skipper, Shan Masood arrived at the press conference, a reported directed a query whether he would voluntarily step down or Pakistan Cricket Board will do so. The skipper did not brush off the question and schooled the journalist to show respect to the players.

"You have your opinion and I respect that but there is a lot of disrespect in your question. You can't show disrespect to players, me and the others. We all play for Pakistan and get results but no one will tolerate such disrespect. You have to understand that. You want to put someone down fine but we all are Pakistan players," Masood said as quoted by NDTV Sports.
"You have to understand and appreciate that we are trying to do something different and you must study that. Anyone can google something but we are trying to do something and we have won three out of the last four Tests at home,” he added.

West Indies tailenders become thorn in Pakistan's path
The saving grace for West Indies was the partnership between Warrican and Gudakesh Motie in the first innings. The lower order batters stitched a 68-run stand for the 10th wicket and the visitors were bailed out from a position of 95/9 to a respectable total of 163 runs. Masood highlighted the team’s inability to clean up the lower order has been a consistent error.

"We have been facing this problem of not being able to quickly get the lower order out for some time now and we have to find a way to resolve this because in Tests you have to grab the opportunities that come your way as a team,” Masood concluded.
