Following the on-field drama that unfolded in the 43rd match of the ongoing Indian Premier League players from both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants have now taken the war to social media. As per the latest developments, LSG pacer Naveen-ul-Haq took to his official social media handle to take a jibe at RCB's flamboyant batter Virat Kohli.
The Afghanistan left-arm pacer, who engaged in an on-field heated exchange of words with Kohli following the match, decided to take another shot at the latter on social media.
“You get what you deserve and that’s how it should be and that’s how it goes,” shared Naveen on his Instagram story.
For the unversed, it was the 17th over of LSG's innings when Kohli had a heated exchange with Naveen-ul-Haq, who was batting along with Amit Mishra. Kohli’s animated reaction following the dismissals that followed did not go down well with some of the players of the LSG team.
Moreover, it was in the same over that Kohli seemed visibly displeased with Naveen’s words upon which the former fired back. Though the on-field umpires and Amit Mishra tried to move the two players apart, the verbal spat continued following the conclusion of the match.
In addition to this, LSG skipper KL Rahul, who wanted to help sort things between the two asked Naveen to have a polite word with Kohli. However, the pacer outrightly refused and walked off when Kohli and Rahul were having a conversation.
Additionally, Kohli and Gautam Gambhir too engaged in a hostile chat which escalated before the players of both teams had to separate the two. The IPL penalised the two for their actions by fining them 100% of their match fees. On the other hand, Naveen was also fined 50% of his match fees for engaging in a verbal duel with Virat.
Speaking about the match, RCB won the clash by 18 runs in the low-scoring affair in Lucknow. In doing so, Faf du Plessis and Co. moved to fifth place on the IPL 2023 points table with five wins in nine matches.
