You wait for India vs Pakistan encounters for years: Nikhil Chopra
'Even if India-Pakistan play a bilateral series, it keeps you on edge of your seat,' said Chopra.
Sports of all kinds should have rivalries because they add to the enthusiasm of any game. It has been observed that some games are more significant than others. There have been major rivalries in cricket that have drawn attention from all across the globe and cricket brings to you many blockbuster competitions.
The oldest rivalry in cricket history dates back to England and Australia, and it still exists today. Australia and India have also become fierce rivals in cricket in recent years. However, the rivalry between India and Pakistan is unquestionably the fiercest in cricket, and the anticipation for their matches is unmatched.
And former India cricketer Nikhil Chopra was of a similar opinion as he reckoned that the people wait for India vs Pakistan encounters for years because that one competition is not something we get to see on regular basis. While speaking on BatBricks7 Presents Run Ki Runneeti show on CricTracker, Chopra said:
“If Pakistan makes it further, the Sunday is going to be a blockbuster again. That’s the beauty of an India-Pakistan game, and you wait for their encounters for years. If you keep playing multiple games against each other then one would feel this is just another game, but that is not the case with India and Pakistan games.”
The reason behind all the excitement and anticipation is the emotions behind the games: Chopra
At the ongoing Asia Cup 2022, India and Pakistan locked horns on Sunday, August 28, in the first fixture of their group. India eventually won the game, but the chances of the two teams meeting again are high. India has already secured the spot in the Super Four by defeating Hong Kong in their second game. And if Pakistan manages to defeat Hong Kong in the upcoming fixture, then they’ll make it into the Super Four and meet India again on Sunday, September 4.
“Even if India and Pakistan play a bilateral series, the games keep you on the edge of your seat. The reason behind all the excitement and anticipation is the emotions behind the games. One may score a half-century or a ton against any team and enjoy the moment, but it becomes special when it comes against Pakistan because a player always puts his best foot forward,” Chopra added.
