Chahal's prowess was on full display as he swiftly secured his fifth List A five-for by dismissing Mayank Mishra for a duck just two balls after claiming his 200th wicket. The skilled spinner went on to complete a sensational six-wicket haul in his final over, culminating with impressive figures of 6/26 in 10 overs. Despite notable performances, he faced exclusions from both the Asia Cup and the 2023 World Cup squads, with Kuldeep Yadav getting the nod ahead of him.

The Haryana spinner's last appearance for India dates back to the West Indies tour in August. Despite the ups and downs in his career, he maintains a composed mindset amid the circumstances. In a recent interview addressing his omission from the ODI World Cup, Chahal expressed familiarity with such scenarios, indicating his accustomed approach to handling such situations.

"I understand that only fifteen players can be a part because it's a World Cup, where you can't take 17 or 18. I do feel a little bad, but my motto in life is to move on. I'm used to it now, it's been three World Cups (laughs). That's why I came here [at Kent] to play because I want to play cricket somewhere, somehow,” Chahal had told Wisden India.
