PCB Management Committee head Zaka Ashraf has resigned from his position on Friday, January 19. Ashraf, who had become part of PCB's Board of Governors back in July 2023, replaced Najam Sethi. It is to be noted that caretaker PM Kakar extended the rope for Ashraf-led Management back in 2023.

Under Ashraf's role, Pakistan played two major tournaments (Asia Cup and World Cup 2023) but failed to shine in both of them. While Pakistan failed to qualify for the finals of Asia Cup, they had a subpar outing in the mega ICC event and couldn't qualify for semi-final.

"I was working for the betterment of cricket but it is not possible for us to work in this way. Now it is up to Prime Minister [Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar], whomever he nominates [will take my place]," said Ashraf as per people present in the meeting as quoted by Geo News.

Pakistan are yet to win a game under new leadership

After Pakistan couldn't fare well in the WC 2023, skipper Babar Azam resigned from his position across formats. The coaching staff led by then director Mickey Arthur was moved to NCA but as per the latest developents, the trio (Mickey Arthur, Grant Bradburn and Andrew Puttick) also resigned from their positions on January 18.

Currently, Mohammad Hafeez is at the helm as team director while Wahab Riaz is head of the selection committee. However, the team is yet to win a single game under the new regime and got whitewashed 0-3 in the away Test series against Australia. On the other hand, Pakistan are struggling bit too much in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand as well. They have lost all the four games in the series so far with closing show slated for Sunday, 21st January.
