About

Introduction:

Shubman Gill was born in Fazilka, Punjab in a Jatt Sikh family on September 8, 1999. His father, Lakhwinder Singh, an agriculturist, wanted to become a cricketer when he was young. However, he couldn’t pursue his dreams. When Shubman was just three years old, he started playing cricket and fell in love with the beautiful game in no time.

According to his father, Shubman used to sleep with a bat and a ball. Lakhwinder identified that his son had a knack for the sport and he transformed his farm into a cricket ground with a turf pitch. Shubman’s father would challenge the locals to try and pick up his son’s wicket. Whoever could dismiss the youngster would receive 100 rupees from Lakhwinder.

Shubman’s father soon understood that his son had something special and to give him better opportunities, the family moved to Mohali in a rented house near the PCA Stadium.
