Mumbai Indians continued their dreadful form in the ongoing IPL after suffering another loss against Kolkata Knight Riders on May 3. Captain Hardik has been the centre point of all the criticism coming over the franchise and former Australian cricketer Aaron Finch added how he feels about struggling Pandya.
Speaking exclusively to Star Sports Cricket Live, former Australia cricketer Aaron Finch spoke on how Mumbai Indians and Hardik Pandya are feeling the pressure of a tournament such as an IPL. "You would expect them to chase 170 with the dew falling at the Wankhede stadium. It's a beautiful place to bat generally. Yes, it was a bit uncharacteristic in the way it turned a bit more and a bit more two-paced than what we have seen in the past. He just looks really flattered at the moment, he looks really drained and someone who is feeling the pressure.
And I feel for him, I have been in that situation myself where everything that you're trying personally doesn't seem to be working. And when the team isn't performing as well, that's a very difficult place to be. And that's one thing where you're not performing and the team winning, that's something you'd take as a captain but you bear all responsibility as captain for the team’s performance and that is an incredibly hard place to be, particularly in this competition where it's so brutal."
Varun Aaron discussed how Mitchell Starc's death bowling has helped him regain form. “More than anything, it was that last wicket, wasn't it? Mitch Starc, coming round the wicket, delivering that perfect yorker. The kind of emotion he displayed—it's something Mitch Starc reveals when he's onto something big. His recent performance suggests just that. His timing couldn't be better for Kolkata Knight Riders.”
Aaron Finch discussed Manish Pandey's innings from last night. “Having someone like Manish Pandey in the team, who has extensive experience in both IPL and international cricket, will be incredibly beneficial. It not only boosts his confidence but also adds value to KKR. With players like him, KKR is gradually forming a solid core, especially in the middle order. This foundation could potentially carry them forward into the next generation.”
Finch spoke on Gujarat Titans' chances of victory against RCB. "They could play 3 spin options with the matchups there, will they? No. RCB are looking favourites to win the match as Gujarat are not playing as well as a team at the moment. Shubhman Gill, the last time he played an IPL game there he got a brilliant hundred and knocked out RCB from the playoffs, I just think RCB are in kind of a run where it isn't enough for them to make the playoffs, but they are in very good form."
