Ireland fined for slow over-rate in third Women’s ODI against India

Ireland players have been fined 10 per cent of their match fee for maintaining a slow over-rate in the third ODI of their ICC Women’s Championship series against India in Rajkot on Wednesday.

G S Lakshmi of the ICC International Panel of Match Referees imposed the sanction after Ireland were ruled to be two overs short of the target after time allowances were taken into consideration.

In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time.

Ireland captain Gaby Lewis pled guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing.

On-field umpires Kim Cotton and Akshay Totre, third umpire Virender Sharma and fourth umpire Vrinda Rathi levelled the charge.

India women whitewashed Ireland women in a three-match ODI series with Women in Blue winning the third and final match by the biggest margin of 304 runs. India Women's stand-in captain Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal's fiery ton helps India with a record win. 

Smriti Mandhana led the way by smashing the fasted ODI century by an Indian batter. She hit a hundred in just 70 balls breaking Harmanpreet Kaur's record by 17 balls. On the other hand, Pratika Rawal hit her maiden ODI century in 100 balls. She scored 154 runs off 129 balls.
