Delhi Capitals registered their first win of the WPL 2024 against the UP Warriorz by nine wickets, chasing down a target of 120 runs in 14.3 overs. JioCinema and Sports18 experts Parthiv Patel and Mona Meshram analyzed the strong Delhi performance and Shafali Verma, who was the top-scorer for Delhi with 64 runs including four sixes, gave an exclusive interview on Match Center Live.
Shafali Verma spoke about her finding form once again - "I have seen bad days when the ball wasn't hitting my bat well and I wasn't able to score runs. From that, I learned that on days when you are hitting the ball well, you should try to complete the innings. That bad time has taught me a lot. So, on days when I am connecting the ball, I want to make sure I complete the innings and my team wins."
Verma on opponents figuring out her playing style - "There's a big difference now from when I started. When I debuted, nobody knew how I play and where I hit the ball. Now, there are so many video analysts, they see every ball to analyze my game. Now since that, they know that I have to figure out how I change that and improve. It's a mind game, and if I'm good mentally, I feel I can score in every match."
Mona Meshram spoke on Radha Yadav's spell - "She (Meg Lanning) must be thinking if instead of giving the ball to Alice Capsey in their last game, who was hit for a six, they could have won the game had she given the ball to Radha Yadav, especially after today's performance. Her bowling has really impressed me. The slower balls she delivered, even the faster ones. Every batter faced trouble when she was bowling."
Parthiv Patel spoke on Marizanne Kapp's technique - "The line of the delivery is one of the most crucial factors. Every time you watch, you see that the length is forward. In this ground, if you're not getting seam, it's crucial to bowl further up to swing the ball. She repeatedly tried to stay consistent with that... New ball bowlers always try to swing the ball and if they find it, it becomes very difficult for anyone to face that. The balls she delivered to Tahlia McGrath, a bowling coach would tell you to pitch the ball in a spot where it can hit top of the off. That's what happened. You think at the start that there is no pace, but if you place the ball correctly and get swing, it's very hard to hit."
