Former cricketers lined up to laud DC's Kuldeep Yadav's show with the ball in the Gujarat Titans clash in Delhi. In a high-scoring contest where every bowler leaked a lot of runs, Yadav conceded only 29 runs in his quota of four overs and picked up two wickets.
Sanjay Manjrekar spoke on the inadequacies of RCB this season. "Looks a little tough, and it's something that looks to be beyond their control. We saw what happened at the auction table and we saw what happened to their bowling attack. We saw the kind of spinning group that they have and the fast bowlers as well, you felt that they would be vulnerable with their bowling. With the batting, you put your hope on a Cameron Green coming in, or a Maxwell, they've had phenomenal IPL seasons in the past, but that didn't happen. I think we can still expect something to happen, but with their bowling, there are a lot of limitations in the seam department as well as with spin. So I don't see RCB beating Sunrisers Hyderabad, but anything can happen in the game, but to be honest Sunrisers Hyderabad are flying high, with both their batting power and their bowling."
Deep Dasgupta spoke on whether Sunrisers Hyderabad can breach the 300-run mark in the IPL. "Unbelievable, having watched them play this season, if any team had to cross that 300 mark, it would be Sunrisers Hyderabad. And looking at some of the venues like Chinnaswamy and Arun Jaitley stadium, it is possible. And the way they are batting, and they are all in form from Number 1 to Number 6, or 7, I think everyone comes in and plays their role. Everyone is striking at 150+, so it is possible, they have the capability to do it."
Deep Dasgupta spoke about Rishabh Pant making it to his playing 11 at the World Cup. “He's there in my playing 11. Before today, I think we had this chat before the game as well And I said without a shadow of a doubt Rishabh Pant walks into my playing 11. The only doubt before the IPL started was his fitness level after whatever happened a year and a half ago. What kind of physical state is he in and if he's fit which he is, he's better than fit. Actually, you know what I was having a chat with him. He's actually lost six kilos in the last four or five months and he's been working really hard. So yeah, let's talk about Rishabh Pant. I mean he's fitter, he's quicker, he's batting better. Without a shadow of a doubt, I think that is not even a debate as far as I'm concerned. 15, Yes, he's there.”
Sanjay Manjrekar spoke about Rishabh Pant making it to his 15-member squad for the World Cup. “The only reason why we are debating that is because of the option that we have. There is a Sanju Samson as an option and KL Rahul, two very exciting ones but the thing about Rishabh Pant is that is why I will back him all the time in the 15, in the playing 11 as well Come the big stage, Semi-final of T20 World Cup. This is a guy who will get you a hundred in 60 balls and win the game. Now that is something not too many In the Indian team will do. We've seen the Indian team come into the final rounds and not quite deliver in the big matches. Rishabh Pant is temperamentally just in a different kind of space where you know that kind of stage, and platform allows him to flourish more. He relaxes in that kind of a situation.”
