The Gujarat Titans (GT) won their fourth game of the IPL 2024 by overcoming the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by three wickets at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, Mohali on Sunday. Batting first, Punjab scored 142 runs, which Gujarat chased down with five deliveries to spare. JioCinema TATA IPL experts Brett Lee and Robin Uthappa praised Shubman Gill (35 runs), Sai Kishore (4/33), and Rahul Tewatia (36* runs) on Match Centre Live.
Robin Uthappa spoke, on Shubman Gill - "I think he's a gift to Indian cricket. He's someone who's maturing into an all-time great within the Indian cricket fraternity. We're seeing him thrive, we're seeing him grow into a prolific leader, who will not only lead his IPL side but also the Indian team in the near future. It was a great innings. I think he went about it the right way because it was important for him to bat throughout the innings for GT to be successful, so he approached it in that fashion. He needed someone to play a little more aggressively on the other end to take pressure off him so he could play his role. When he went to up the ante, he got out. He didn't need to do that."
Uthappa on Sai Kishore - "He's a class act. I really think he should be someone who's a regular member of the Indian cricket team, just with the skills that he's got. I don't know how he hasn't played every game that GT has played. He is miserly with the ball and very shrewd as a bowler, very confident in his own skills. There's a lot to love about this kid and he's very hardworking as well. I am actually as gung-ho about him as Brett is about Jake Fraser-McGurk."
Brett Lee spoke on Rahul Tewatia - "He chanced his arms on a few occasions with a couple of switch hits or reverse sweeps, but at the end of the day, he got the job done. That's exactly what his team needed. I thought they were in a bit of strife in the middle period, but they turned it around perfectly. They ended up having the same score with one over left, so perfect timing."
