'She is batting gracefully' - Reema Malhotra lauds Grace Harris after her sturdy innings against Gujarat Giants

The UP Warriorz picked up their second consecutive win at the WPL 2024 by winning against the Gujarat Giants by six wickets at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Friday. The Warriorz successfully chased down the target of 143 in 15.4 overs. JioCinema and Sports18 WPL expert Reema Malhotra discussed Gujarat's winless start to the season and Grace Harris' (60* runs) form on ‘Match Center Live’. Deepti Sharma also spoke about the match proceedings.

Deepti Sharma on the most important win of the season so far- "Obviously our win over Mumbai because it was our first win of the season. Also, Mumbai is a good side. The better team that you beat, the more confidence you build."

Sharma on team spirit - "We always trust our teammates. We have a belief that even if we lose a match, we will bounce back. A good team always fights and moves forward, so that was our plan. We wanted to learn from the first two games and stop doing things we shouldn't do. At the same time, we take things we are doing well, forward with us."

Reema Malhotra on Gujarat Giants underperforming - "If you can't build partnerships, you'll find yourself in trouble. You're batting first and you couldn't build a partnership. How will you build a monument with a weak foundation? On the Chinnaswamy pitch where you can score runs and the ground is small, a total of 140-150 won't put pressure on any team. In fact, it will release pressure. This is a headache for Gujarat Giants. They have batters, but they're looking for form and runs. Who will save the sinking ship? I think roles have to be re-assigned... When you have big players, you expect big performances, but they need to know how to deliver."

Malhotra on the UP Warriorz and Grace Harris - "They look like the favorites. The best thing for Grace Harris and the UP Warriorz is that she's batting gracefully. She's playing good shots with the understanding that she not only has to build the match but also finish it. The role she's been assigned, she's delivering on it. If you have a match-winner like this, who can bat at any strike rate and play pacers and spinners well, it means they're a complete match-winner. Grace Harris is the prime example of batting well in the middle and death overs."
