The upcoming third ODI between Australia and Zimbabwe is going to be a dead rubber as the hosts have already clinched the series by winning the first two games. Now that Australia is already leading the series by 2-0, they would look to whitewash the series by winning the final game. On the other hand, Zimbabwe would look to do away with the scare and try to win the third game.
The Aussies restricted Zimbabwe to just 200 runs in the first ODI, and then chased down the target of 201 runs with 99 balls to spare. The second game looked like a piece of cake for the hosts as the bowlers stormed through Zimbabwe’s batting lineup to dish them out for mere 99 runs. The Aussies then chased down 100 runs in just 14.4 over to win the series.
Among the batters, Steve Smith has done well for Australia and among the bowlers, Cameron Green and Adam Zampa have been very impressive. The Men in Yellow have dominated the first two games and they will surely be the favourites while walking into the next fixture. The final game, just like the previous ones, is also scheduled at the Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville.
Pitch and conditions
As was obvious during the first two ODIs, the Tony Ireland Stadium wicket is anticipated to be a strong batting surface, if utilised properly. The openers, though, must watch the new ball carefully before taking their strikes. The captain who wins the toss may decide to bowl first.
Playing Combinations for AUS vs ZIM
Australia
Ashton Agar was included in the squad after Mitch Marsh was ruled out. Being in form, Australia would not want to tweak their combination and would look to continue with the same set of players, until and unless an injury acts as a setback.
Probable XI: Aaron Finch(c), David Warner, Steven Smith, Alex Carey(w), Marcus Stoinis, Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Ashton Agar, Mitchell Starc, Adam Zampa, Josh Hazlewood
Zimbabwe:
The senior pros in the team, like Sikandar Raza and Sean Williams need to put their A-game on display in order to come anywhere near defeating Australia. The bowlers did a good job against India prior to this series, and they will have to use a similar strategy to tackle the Australian batters.
Probable XI: Innocent Kaia, Tadiwanashe Marumani, Wessly Madhevere, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Regis Chakabva (c & wk), Ryan Burl, Blessing Muzarabani, Brad Evans, Richard Ngarava, Victor Nyauchi
