After an intriguing inaugural Women's Premier League (WPL) season, Indian players have assembled in Mirpur, Bangladesh, to play three T20Is and three ODIs against Nigar Sultana's Co. The first of the three-match T20I series will be played on Sunday, July 9, at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.

India will go into the series as the overwhelming favourites. They played their last T20I against Australia in the semifinals of the T20 World Cup earlier this year. India dropped two regular players, Richa Ghosh and Renuka Singh, for the series. However, the rest of the squad is quite formidable. Spin is also going to play a huge role, and the likes of Deepti Sharma and Bareddy Anusha will be eager to let the ball rip.

The batting order is quite settled, with Smriti Mandhana, Shafali Verma, Jemimah Rodrigues, and Harmanpreet Kaur in the mix. The likes of Harleen Deol, Yastika Bhatia, Deepti Sharma, and Devika Vaidya will chip in when necessary. Captain Kaur was among the top five highest run-getters in the WPL as she guided Mumbai Indians Women to win the title. She will hope to continue her purple patch against Bangladesh.

The home side will have to play their best cricket to give India a run for their money. Talented youngsters like Shorna Akter, Marufa Akter, and Rabeya Khan could prove to be the X-Factor for Bangladesh. They showed their potential in the recently concluded Women's Emerging Asia Cup, where they helped Bangladesh A reach the finals. Experienced captain Nigar Sultana will have to guide the youngsters as they prepare to take on an organised Indian side.

Bangladesh played their last T20I series against Sri Lanka in May. After winning the first T20I, they went on to lose the next two to go down 1-2 in the series.

Pitch and Conditions

Mirpur is known to be conducive to spin-bowling like any other venue in Bangladesh. In six women's T20Is played at the Shere Bangla National Cricket Stadium, the average first-innings score is 106. Two matches have been won by the team batting first, while four have been won by the team batting second.
