Shikhar Dhawan's India bounced back in the three-match ODI series in style, subjecting visitors South Africa to a harrowing defeat in the second match in Ranchi. The young Indian trio of Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, and Mohammed Siraj shone brightly for the hosts, setting up a mouthwatering series finale in Delhi.
The visitors were deflated by a couple of notable absentees in skipper Temba Bavuma and Lungi Ngidi with Keshav Maharaj leading the side. The veteran spinner will be disappointed with the performance in the second ODI, especially the bowlers, who looked below par for most of the contest.
Meanwhile, India are purring over the incredible form of Shreyas Iyer in the 50-over format as the stylish batter registered just his second ton in the second ODI. Hometown hero Ishan Kishan also played a tremendous hand and was unlucky to miss out on a deserved century. The third ODI in Delhi is likely to serve up another cracking game with the series on the line.
Pitch Conditions
The surface at the Arun Jaitley Stadium has traditionally been helpful for the bowlers but has gone under a considerable change in the last few years. The teams batting first have won four out of the last five ODIs at the venue, but with dew expected to play a role, teams might be inclined to chase in the final ODI.
