IND-W vs AUS-W, 1st T20I: Head to Head, Playing XI, Preview, Where to Watch on TV, Online, and Live Streaming Details
This will be the first time since the CWG 2022 finale that India and Australia meet.
India and Australia are all set to lock horns for the first time since the conclusion of the Birmingham Commonwealth Games 2022. India will be hosting Australia for five T20Is, the first of which will be played on Friday, December 9, at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Mumbai. Both teams will be eyeing to start their campaign with a win so as to take an early lead.
The two teams started their CWG 2022 campaign by taking on each other and met again in the finals, with Australia winning on both occasions. Australians have had an upper hand over the Women in Blue, but their contests have always been cut-throat. Be it the CWG 2022 finals, or the T20 World Cup 2020 finals, the two sides have always put up a fight.
While India will be led by Harmanpreet Kaur, Australia will be under Alyssa Healy’s leadership as regular skipper Meg Lanning continues to be on a break. Australia haven’t played any international game since the conclusion of the Commonwealth Games, but the players are coming off an extensive Women’s Big Bash League season.
India, on the other hand, last played an international game at the Women’s Asia Cup, where they clinched the championship title by defeating Sri Lanka. Players of the contingent participated in the domestic tournaments and thus, have had a good amount of game time recently. Harmanpreet Kaur has led the Indian side really well recently, and the Women in Blue will be expected to come out on top in the upcoming series as well.
Pitch and Conditions
The pitch at the D.Y. Patil Stadium has assisted batters and thus, it can be a high-scoring contest. As the game progresses, the surface has a tendency to slow down, which could be beneficial for the spinners.
