The five-time champions Mumbai Indians and the Krunal Pandya-led Lucknow Super Giants will meet in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Eliminator at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 24. The winner will play in the second Qualifier of the IPL 2023 against the losing side of the first Qualifier between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titans.

Despite getting off to a rocky start to the tournament, Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai picked up the pace and managed to make their way into the knockout stages of IPL 2023. They played their last game against the Aiden Markram-led Sunrisers Hyderabad, where Cameron Green’s magnificent ton helped them qualify for the playoffs.

On the other hand, Lucknow Super Giants played their last game against the two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders. Coming in to chase a target of 176 runs, Rinku Singh and Jason Roy’s knock brought Kolkata within touching distance of a win. However, through an exceptional bowling display, Lucknow managed to inch out a victory.

Pitch and Conditions

The surface at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai has been known to assist spinners. A solid and dry pitch could be expected with the side bowling could have themselves a big advantage. Spinners could play a big role in the game and the side winning the toss should look to bowl first.
