Gujarat Titans (GT) and Delhi Capitals (DC) are set to square off in match no. 32 of the ongoing Indian Premier League 2024 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Wednesday, April 17.
GT are currently placed in the sixth spot in the IPL points tally after winning three matches and losing as many out of their first six. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals have won two and lost four and are languishing at No. 9 on the points table. Both teams are coming off wins and would want to build on the momentum as the tournament approaches the halfway stage.
Gujarat are returning to their colossal home ground after playing a couple of away games. They are yet to register back-to-back wins in the competition thus far, something that is hard to associate with one of the most consistent teams from the last couple of seasons.
Skipper Shubman Gill has amassed 255 runs this season on the back of his Orange Cap-winning campaign last year. The Punjab batter is averaging 51 in IPL 2024 and has a strike rate of 151.79. The onus will be on him to provide the Titans with a solid start at the top. According to Australian pacer Spencer Johnson, who is playing in his debut IPL season, David Miller could return for this contest and that should come as a huge relief for the GT faithful. Sai Sudharsan has shown glimpses of his talent as he has scored 226 runs from six matches at an average of 37.67 and a strike rate of 127.86.

However, he is yet to register a half-century and would want to change that against the Capitals. On the bowling front, Rashid Khan has not been at his best with the ball but his remarkable finishing act with the bat in the last game should give him a lot of confidence. Mohit Sharma is the highest wicket-taker for GT as he has bagged eight wickets at 27. However, his economy rate took a beating after he conceded 51 runs in four overs in the last game.
Delhi Capitals won their two games against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The Rishabh Pant-led side have lacked consistency so far. However, they will take confidence from their last game where they became the first side to chase down a total in excess of 160 against Lucknow.

Prithvi Shaw has had a promising start to the season. He has scored 151 runs from four games at an average of 37.75 and a strike rate of 157.29. The youngster will want to capitalise on the good start and keep churning out the runs. Meanwhile, IPL stalwart David Warner has not been able to live up to his lofty standards. The southpaw has scored a solitary fifty from six outings. However, Pant has looked really good so far, having scored 194 runs from six innings at an average of 32.33 and a strike rate of 157.72.
Young Australian prodigy Jake Fraser-McGurk made his debut in the last game and smashed a 35-ball 55 on a tricky surface, hitting two fours and five sixes, respectively. Delhi will stand in good stead if the youngster can play more such knocks. Tristan Stubbs has also been in fine form, having scored a whirlwind 71 not out off 25 balls against Mumbai Indians.
Kuldeep Yadav returned to the side in the last game after recovering from a groin injury. The left-arm spinner finished with figures of 3/20 in four overs. Axar Patel has also been tidy through the middle overs, while Khaleel Ahmed has picked up crucial wickets at the top.

Narendra Modi Stadium Pitch Report and Conditions
Three games have been played so far at this venue this season. The average first innings score is 176. Punjab chased down a 200-run target in the last game on a belter of a track after the first two games saw most of the batters struggling to score freely. Two games have been won by the chasing teams, while one has been won by the team batting first. The captain who wins the toss would want to field first and assess the conditions.

Delhi Capitals (DC)
After returning to winning ways in their last game, the Capitals would not want to tinker around with their combination. If David Warner fires at the top, in unison with Prithvi Shaw, the big hitters in the middle order can take the Capitals to huge totals.
Predicted XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Shai Hope, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Tristan Stubbs, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Mukesh Kumar, Ishant Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed
Impact Player: Abhishek Porel
