Bangladesh(BAN) and England (ENG) will lock horns in the seventh match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala on October 10.

England are coming off a terrible defeat against New Zealand in the opening match of the tournament. Batting first after losing the toss, England scored 282 runs, thanks to Joe Root’s 86-ball 77. Matt Henry was key for New Zealand, picking up three wickets.

The Jos Buttler-led side failed to defend their total when the Kiwi batters Devon Conway and Rachin Ravindra ripped them apart, chasing down the target in 36.2 overs. Conway and Ravindra scored 152* and 123*, respectively, while producing an unbeaten 273-run target. Sam Curran picked up one wicket for the defending champions.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, showed some outstanding performances to defeat Afghanistan in their first match of the tournament. Bangladesh invited Afghanistan to bat first after winning the toss. Captain Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan starred with the ball as Bangladesh bundled out Afghanistan for a paltry score of 156 in 37.2 overs.

Mehidy excelled in batting as well, scoring 57 runs to help his side chase down the target in just 34/4 overs. Najmul Hossain Shanto was also key for Bangladesh as he scored an unbeaten 59 off 83 deliveries, including three boundaries and one six.

BAN vs ENG Pitch and Conditions

The pitches at the HPCA Stadium typically favour the bowlers. The black soil pitch is expected to produce true bounce. The team chasing has had more success compared to the teams batting first at the venue, therefore, the toss-winning captain will likely opt to field first.

BAN vs ENG, Probable Playing XIs for ODI World Cup 2023, Match 7th

Bangladesh

Bangladesh are likely to come up with the same playing XI that faced Afghanistan in their opening match. Mehidy Hasan could play a key role for his side in their upcoming match against England as well. However, the top-order batters would want to stay for a longer duration to provide a good start for the team.

Probabale XI: Tanzid Hasan, Litton Das, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Shakib Al Hasan (c), Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Towhid Hridoy, Mahmudullah, Taskin Ahmed, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman

England

The defending champions might bring in Ben Stokes at the expense of Harry Brook if fit while Reece Topley could replace Chris Woakes.

Probabale XI: Jonny Bairstow, Dawid Malan, Joe Root, Harry Brook/Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali, Jos Buttler (c, wk), Liam Livingstone, Sam Curran, Chris Woakes/Reece Topley, Adil Rashid, Mark Wood
