The inaugural edition of the SA20 has dished out plenty of fireworks during the initial group stages, but the tournament comes to a standstill to accommodate South Africa's ODI series against visitors England, commencing on January 27.
The home side endured a rough couple of months that included a disappointing T20 World Cup campaign in Australia, followed by an embarrassing whitewash in a red-ball series against the Aussies. Temba Bavuma will be looking to rectify the mistakes with the ODI World Cup later this year.
However, they will face a stern test against defending champions England, who will be buoyed by the return of fast bowling ace Jofra Archer. Jos Buttler's side is one of the firm favorites for the ICC mega event later this year and will be looking to make a statement in the upcoming series against the Proteas.
Pitch Conditions
The last ODI at this venue saw the home side chase a stiff target with relative ease against the Aussies. The surface at the Mangaung Oval assists the quick bowlers with extra pace and bounce but also has a bit of spin on offer for the slower bowlers. A similar kind of play will be expected on this pitch in the upcoming encounter.
