T20 World Cup 2022: Bangladesh vs Netherlands Preview, Playing XI, Head to Head, Where to Watch on TV, & Live Streaming Details for T20 WC
Bangladesh have lost all of their last five fixtures, including a warm-up clash against Afghanistan.
Bangladesh and Netherlands will clash against each other in their opening Super 12 clash of the T20 World Cup 2022 at Bellerive Oval in Hobart on Monday. Bangladesh enter this fixture after their disappointing showings in the T20I Tri-Series in New Zealand and a big defeat against Afghanistan in the warm-up fixture.
After suffering an early exit from the 2022 Asia Cup, Bangladesh traveled to UAE for two-match T20I series without their captain Shakib Al Hasan. They looked positive with two wins in UAE but their weaknesses were on display in the Tri-Series earlier this month AS Bangladesh lost all four games.
Bangladesh also suffered a heavy defeat against Afghanistan in their first warm-up game after getting restricted to only 98/9 in 20 overs while chasing 161. Apart from Shakib and Liton Das, Bangladeshi batters have looked out of form and consistency lately. Both batters were the only players to score 100-plus runs in the recent tri-series while the likes of Najmul Shanto, Afif Hossain, and Nurul Hasan struggled for big knocks.
While being consistent with the bat, Shakib has been struggling for wickets lately. He did take two wickets against Afghanistan in the recent warm-up game but proved the costliest bowler for his team with an economy rate over 11. In the New Zealand Tri-Series, he failed to take a single wicket and conceded runs at an economy rate over nine. Star pace bowler Mustafizur Rahman is also struggling for wickets but other pacers Hasan Mahmud and Taskin Ahmed have shown some consistency lately.
Meanwhile, the Netherlands beat UAE and Namibia in their opening two matches in the T20 World Cup Group A to qualify for the Super 12 round. Both of their wins came while chasing low scores. Recently, against Sri Lanka, they put their best showing while chasing a big 163-run target but failed only 16 runs short.
Star batter Maxwell O'Dowd scored 129 runs from three innings at the first round with an unbeaten 71-run knock against Sri Lanka in the last match. The in-from batting all-rounder Bas de Leede scored 58 runs and took seven wickets from just three innings and is likely to trouble the struggling Bangladeshi batting lineup on Monday.
Both teams faced each other only once in the T20 World Cup where Bangladesh won the game by a narrow margin of eight runs in 2016. The Netherlands have won only once in three T20I meetings against Bangladesh so far but are favorites to win this fixture.
Pitch Conditions
The pitch at Bellerive Oval favors both batters and bowlers in the white-ball cricket. The average first innings score at the venue is around 150 runs. but the heavy rain is forecast, which is likely to make things worse for the bowlers. Teams have successfully managed to chase here in the recent games, hence the captain winning the toss is likely to bowl first.
