India Women are set to square off against Sri Lanka Women in Match 2 of the Women's Asia Cup 2022 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Saturday (October 1). The two sides met each other in the month of June for a limited-overs series and it was the Indian side who ended with a series victory.

Sri Lanka had a horrid run in the Commonwealth Games 2022 where they failed to pick up a win throughout the campaign. They lost all the three games, against England, New Zealand and South Africa, and were outclassed by their opponents. The Chamari Athapaththu-led side will be looking to come up with up a better performance and build confidence going into the tournament. 

On the other hand, India are coming off a historic England tour where they completed a whitewash against the home side for the first time in 50-over format. Although India lost the T20I series 1-2 to England, there were a lot of positives from the tour and some emotional moments too owing to Jhulan Goswami's retirement. 

Pitch Conditions

The Sylhet International Cricket Stadium has been quite favourable for the bowlers. The venue's results so far suggest the skipper winning the toss is expected to bowl first.

India will not have the services of two retired veterans, Jhulan Goswami and Mithali Raj, and it will be up to the youngtsers to take over. Jemimah Rodrigues is likely to come into the middle-order after her good stint in the Commonwealth Games while Kiran Navgire could be a surprise package in the tournament.
