West Indies will look to bounce back strongly when they take on Scotland in match No. 8 of the ongoing Women's T20 World Cup 2024 at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai on Sunday, October 6.

West Indies began their campaign with a disappointing 10-wicket loss in their opening match against South Africa in Dubai. After the Caribbean side huffed and puffed their way to 118/6 on a sluggish track, South African openers struck unbeaten half-centuries to take their team home with 13 balls to spare.

Stafanie Taylor batted at No. 3 and remained unbeaten on 44 off 41 balls but the other batters couldn't get accustomed to the surface. No West Indies bowler looked penetrative enough to get the breakthrough for their team. Meanwhile, Scotland put on a brave fight against Bangladesh in their first-ever match in a Women's T20 World Cup. They eventually lost the match by 16 runs, failing to chase down a 120-run target.

Wicketkeeper-batter Sarah Bryce scored an unbeaten 49 off 52 balls against Bangladesh and she would have look to drop anchor once again to allow the power hitters to bat around her. Skipper Kathryn Bryce is the leading run-getter for Scotland this year in the shortest format and she would have to lead from the front.

With the new ball, the onus will be on Rachel Slater to take wickets with the new ball. Off-spinner Saskia Horley took three wickets in the last game and would want to build on her promising start to the tournament.

Pitch Report

The pitches in Dubai haven't been great for stroke-makers. The powerplay will be crucial and the teams will have to score as many runs as they can without losing too many wickets. Run-scoring is going to be difficult as the game goes on. Winning the toss and opting to bat first could be a better option. Any score in excess of 135 will not be easy to chase down.
