England Women (ENG-W) will take on South Africa Women (SA-W) in Match 9 of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah on October 7. England are coming off a comprehensive win against Bangladesh Women in their first game as they won by 21 runs to get off the mark. On the other hand, South Africa managed to beat West Indies by a hefty margin.

The Proteas did not let the Caribbeans crawl back into the game as they outdid them by 10 wickets in a complete team performance. They managed to restrict the Windies to just 118 and chased down the target in just 17.5 overs. This win has given them a positive Net Run Rate of +0.773. The upcoming game will be a tussle between the teams who have shown almost flawless performances in their respective first games.

Pitch Report

The Sharjah Cricket Stadium is a batter’s haven and the shot-making becomes easier as the match progresses. The spinners can generate sharp turns that can trouble the batters in between. The short boundary size and fast outfield could become a restriction for the bowlers. On the weather front, there will be clear skies with no rain threat during the game.

Probable Predicted XI

England Women

England might continue with their winning combination. But the team will have to work on their middle-order batting. If Heather Knight, Alice Capsey, and Nat Sciver-Brunt come among the runs, England have the potential to march towards the next stage without further ado.

Predicted XI: Heather Knight (c), Maia Bouchier, Danielle Wyatt-Hodge, Alice Capsey, Nat Sciver-Brunt, Amy Jones (wk), Danielle Gibson, Sophie Ecclestone, Charlotte Dean, Sarah Glenn, Linsey Smith.

South Africa Women

South Africa could not have asked for a better start. Nonkululeko Mlaba picked 4 wickets and the team will expect Ayabonga Khaka and Marizanne Kapp to continue their striking. In batting, an unbeaten 119-run stand between Laura Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits was the highlight and the batters are riding high on momentum.

Predicted XI: Laura Wolvaardt (c), Tazmin Brits, Marizanne Kapp, Anneke Bosch, Sune Luus, Chloe Tryon, Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Sinalo Jafta (wk), Nonkululeko Mlaba, Ayabonga Khaka.
