India and West Indies will clash in the third match of the ongoing Women’s Tri-series in South Africa. Team India won their first contest of the series against hosts South Africa even without the services of their key players. While the Women in Blue will be eyeing another win, West Indies would be hoping to cover up for their loss from the previous game and win this one.
India and West Indies have clashed 18 times in T20Is, and India have just a slight edge over the Women in Maroon. While India have won on ten occasions, West Indies have won the remaining eight encounters. The upcoming contest will be important for West Indies as they lost the first game and are on a hunt for their first victory.
As for West Indies, they need to change their strategy, and both batters and bowlers need to improve their game. After decent performances from the top-order batters, the middle order failed to do justice to the momentum. As a result, they lost by 44 runs. The bowlers too gave away some big runs and will have to work on their line and length.
As for the Indian side, the middle order resurrected India’s innings as Deepti Sharma and debutant Amanjot Kaur led India’s batting. The top-order needs to work better so as to hand the team good starts in the game. India’s bowling looked tight in the previous game, but it will grow stronger if senior players, who missed the first game, play the next game.
Pitch and Conditions
The surface at the Buffalo Park in East London has typically supported the batters. In the two recent games played on this pitch, in the ongoing series, the team batting first emerged victorious. Scoring big in the second innings looks difficult as pacers get an advantage.
Probable Playing XI for IND-W vs WI-W, Match 3
India Women
India have a winning momentum, but the Caribbean side cannot be taken lightly. If the senior players, who missed the first game, return, India will be a formidable force. With pacers getting benefitted at Buffalo Park, India would hope Renuka Thakur to do well.
Probable Playing XI- Yastika Bhatia (wk), Smriti Mandhana, Jemimah Rodrigues, Harmanpreet Kaur (c), Deepti Sharma, Pooja Vastrakar, Sneh Rana, Devika Vaidya, Shikha Pandey, Rajeshwari Gayakwad, Renuka Thakur
West Indies Women
West Indies are trailing in the series, and are yet to win a game. Having lost one game already, they’d be hoping to clinch their first victory of the tri-series. The team needs to work as a unit, and improve both on the batting and bowling front.
Probable Playing XI: Hayley Matthews (c), Shemaine Campbelle, Shamilia Connell, Britney Cooper, Afy Fletcher, Shabika Gajnabi, Rashada Williams (wk), Chedean Nation, Kaysia Schultz, Shakera Selman, Karishma Ramharack
