The inaugural edition of the Women’s Premier League will finally have its first-ever champion when Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians cross swords in the summit clash on Sunday, March 26, at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. While Delhi Capitals topped the points table to get a direct entry into the final, Mumbai Indians defeated UP Warriorz in the Eliminator to book the last remaining spot.
The two sides will be locking horns for the third time this season. After Mumbai Indians defeated Delhi in their first meeting, the Meg Lanning-led side planned a perfect act of revenge and beat Harmanpreet Kaur’s Mumbai in their second face-off. It will be interesting to see who gets the upper hand in the forthcoming clash.
Both Delhi Capitals and Mumbai Indians have put up dominating performances in the WPL 2023 so far, and the two sides finished with 12 points to their name, having won six games and losing two. Harmanpreet Kaur and Co have won a total of seven games so far, six in the league stage and the eliminator. Since both teams have a winning momentum, the final will be even more interesting.
As for Mumbai Indians, the bowlers and all-rounders are in great form. Issy Wong took the first hat-trick of the tournament in the Eliminator game and will be aiming to repeat a similar performance against Delhi in the final. On the other hand, the Capitals too are in tremendous form and Meg Lanning being a proven match-winner, her captaincy will be the biggest advantage for the table-toppers.
