Bangladesh completed a routine victory in the second and final T20I against UAE at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, 27th of September. The visitors plummeted UAE by 32 runs to complete a clean sweep in the two-match T20I series. Bangladesh set a target of 170 runs for the hosts, which was never threatened by the UAE batters.
UAE were on the back foot in their chase from the get-go as they lost opener Chirag Suri cheaply in the third over. The hosts found run-scoring a turbulent task at the surface as the gulf in class between the two sides was on display.
A middle-order collapse that saw the hosts surrender three wickets for just two runs broke the back of an unlikely chase. Skipper Chundangapoyil Rizwan gave the home team some hope with a solid partnership with Basil Hameed, but the result was a foregone conclusion as the duo tried their best to entertain a vociferous home crowd. Rizwan registered a memorable half-century, only to be on the losing side.
Taskin Ahmed continued his rich vein of form with another impressive display with the ball in hand. The pacer was supported valiantly by the spin bowling duo of Mosaddek Hossain and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who choked the flow of runs in the middle overs.
Nurul Hasan and Yasir Ali propelled Bangladesh to a challenging total
Earlier in the match, Nurul Hasan's side were invited to bat first after UAE won the toss and elected to bowl first on a tacky surface. The Men in Green had a decent start to their innings before Sabbir Rahman's dismissal in the fourth over. But Mehidy Hasan Miraz, who has reveled in his top order role, continued his purple patch with a fluent 46 runs.
Mehidy Hasan found able partners in Litton Das and Afif Hossain, who played handy cameos to keep the scoreboard moving at a decent rate. The run rate dipped in the middle overs after a couple of quick wickets, but a blistering partnership between skipper Nurul Hasan (19 off 10) and Yasir Ali (21 off 13) took the visitors to a more than competitive total of 169 runs.
Afzal Khan was the most successful bowler for the hosts on the day as he scalped two wickets, conceding 33 runs in his four overs. His spin bowling partner Karthik Meiyappan kept a tight lid on things and returned with impressive figures of 1/29.
