The contest between India B and C ended on level terms at Rural Development Trust Stadium B in Anantapur. India C looked brilliant with the bat on the final day as well, before both captains shook hands to call it a draw. Day 4 started with Abhimanyu Easwaran’s marathon knock. He looked flawless with the bat but the opener had no support from the other end. He managed to hit an unbeaten 157 runs as India B posted 332 runs in the second innings.

Anshul Kamboj was terrific with the ball for India C as he picked up eight wickets. He decimated India B’s batting unit and helped his team take a healthy lead of 192 runs. In the third innings, India C continued their onslaught with the bat, registering 128/4 before the match was called a draw.

With the bat, Ruturaj Gaikwad hit a half-century as he made 62 runs, while Rajat Patidar made 42. Ishan Kishan meanwhile failed to deliver as he scored just one run, while Baba Indrajith and Abhishek Porel remained not out for five and four runs respectively. Spinner Rahul Chahar picked up two wickets, while Mukesh Kumar and Musheer Khan picked up one each.

Kamboj adjudged Player of the Match

Overall, India C would be delighted with their performance. The returning Kishan made a significant impact in the first innings, with his century, while captain Gaikwad and Manav Suthar hit a half-century each. Kamboj’s eight-for will also give him plenty of confidence ahead of their final game of the Duleep Trophy 2024 season. He was also adjudged Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling in the second game.

Notably, they defeated India D in their opening game of the tournament and with a draw in their second game, the Ruturaj Gaikwad-led maintained their position at the top of the points table. They will next play India A, which will begin on September 19.

India C currently sit at the top of the table after the end of the first two rounds with nine points in two games, courtesy of a staggering win against India D, and a draw in the latest fixture. If they manage to win that game, India C can eventually win the trophy.
