India D dominated proceedings on Day 2 of their Duleep Trophy 2024 clash against India B at the Rural Development Trust Stadium B on Friday, September 20.

India B got off to a fantastic start as Navdeep Saini dismissed Saransh Jain on the fourth ball of the day. Sanju Samson continued from where he left of Day 1 and notched up his maiden first-class century in five years. He reached the three-figure mark off just 95 balls. Saini eventually ended the Kerala captain's stay at the crease for a blistering 106 off 101 balls. The former went on to bag a five-for as India D were bowled out for 349 in 87.3 overs. The last five wickets for India D fell for just 42 runs as their opponents went into the innings break as the happier side.

Abhimanyu Easwaran and N Jagadeesan opened the innings for India B and added 24 runs before the latter was dismissed by Aditya Thakare for 13. Suyash Prabhudessai joined Easwaran in the middle and the duo stitched a 41-run partnership, with the latter doing the bulk of the scoring. After Prabhudessai departed for a 42-ball 16, India B lost three more wickets in quick succession as Arshdeep Singh wreaked havoc. The left-arm seamer accounted for the big wickets of Musheer Khan, Suryakumar Yadav, and Nitish Reddy to have the opposition reeling at 100/5.

Easwaran slams second consecutive ton in Duleep Trophy 2024

Easwaran was batting superbly from one end but he desperately needed some support. Washington Sundar joined the right-handed batter and they added 105 off 174. Easwaran scored his second consecutive century in the tournament before being dismissed for 116. The Bengal batter hit 13 boundaries and a solitary six during his gutsy knock.

At Stumps, India B reached 210/6, with Washington Sundar (39*) and Rahul Chahar at the crease. With Saini left to come, India B will look to add as many runs as they can on Day 2 and reduce the deficit of 139 runs.
