Day 3 of the ongoing sixth match of the Duleep Trophy 2024 between India A and India C, at the Rural Development Trust Stadium, in Anantapur, saw India A put themselves in a commanding position after a good day with the bat as they increased their lead.
India C started the day with their overnight score standing at 216/7, with Pulkit Narang and Vijaykumar Vyshak at the crease. The Mayank Agarwal-led started their day on a high by getting the big wicket of Vyshak at the score of 18, coupling that with the dismissal of Narang, to dismantle the opposition at 234. Consequently, India C were trailing by 63 runs.
For India A, Avesh Khan and Aaqib Khan were the notable performers of the day with the ball, as they bagged three wickets each, while Tanush Kotian and Shams Mulani picked two wickets apiece, respectively.
India A put themselves in a good position after end of Day 3
Coming into bat for the second time, India A seemingly got off to a decent start, as openers Pratham Singh and skipper Mayank Agarwal put on a 35-run opening stand. Singh was the first wicket to fall from the India A quarter. Agarwal then joined forces with Tilak Varma to carry on the innings. However, the plan was foiled as the duo shared a 38-run stand. before they could convert their partnership into a big one, Varma walked back after scoring 19 runs. Later on, Anshul Kamboj finally got the wicket of India A skipper, who made a crucial contribution with a 34-run knock off 60 balls.
Thereafter, Riyan Parag and the first innings' centurion Shashwat Rawat then went to quickly put runs on the board at an impressive rate. From 94/3, the duo took the score to 199, putting up a solid 105-run partnership. Parag who scored a sublime 73, was the victim of Gaurav Yadav. Soon Rawat also found his way back to the pavilion after adding 53 runs to the tally. Meanwhile, Kumar Kushagra is still occupying the crease batting on 40* and has so far smashed four boundaries and one six. All-rounder Shams Mulani was already back in the dugout after adding a mere eight runs.
India A finished Day 3 at a score of 270/6 and had a lead of 333 runs. With one more day of the game remaining, the side will most probably bat for some time in the morning and will look to give a daunting target for the final day. For India C, Kamboj, Yadav and Manav Suthar all three went on to pick two wickets each.
