In a high-pressure showdown against Kolkata at ISPL 2025, Falcon Risers Hyderabad pulled off a nail-biting one-run victory, thanks to a historic bowling spell by Vicky Bhoir. With the team reeling from back-to-back losses, Vicky stepped up when it mattered most, delivering the best-ever spell in ISPL history—4 wickets for just six runs in two overs. His match-winning effort dismantled Kolkata’s chase, securing a much-needed win for Hyderabad, and earning him the Man of the Match award.
Vicky Bhoir’s journey from playing tennis-ball cricket in his village to becoming a star in the ISPL is a story of resilience and determination. A severe back injury during the COVID lockdown sidelined him for 1.5 years, but he rebuilt himself through disciplined fitness, making a remarkable comeback. Named India’s Best Right-Handed Bowler of the Year (2022-23) and winning multiple Best Bowler awards, his talent and perseverance stand out. ISPL has transformed his life, providing financial stability and recognition across states. Beyond cricket, he dreams of opening a foundation to support underprivileged individuals while securing his family’s future.
Reflecting on his performance, Vicky Bhoir said: "This was a special spell for me. Excelling in tennis-ball cricket is challenging, and I’ve worked hard to master control and precision. I dedicate this award to my family, team owners, coaches and sponsors who stood by us and constantly motivated us even when things didn’t go our way. ISPL is a game-changer for tennis-ball cricketers, just as IPL is for leather-ball players. My message to young cricketers—grab this opportunity, work hard, and stay focused. This league will only grow bigger."
Vishal Kalyankar, Assistant Coach of Falcon Risers Hyderabad, praised Vicky’s brilliance: "Vicky showed incredible composure under pressure. His spell was not just about wickets but also about controlling the game at a crucial stage. This is what ISPL is about—giving talent a stage to shine, and Vicky proved he belongs at the top level."
Falcons posted 62/9, with opener Krishna Satpute’s 34 off 21 balls (4 boundaries, 1 six) setting the tone before a middle-order collapse. His explosive knock earned him the prestigious ‘Gully to Glory’ award. Chasing 63 runs, Kolkata started cautiously before crumbling under relentless pressure from Hyderabad’s bowlers. The final over saw Kolkata needing 7 runs to win, but Vishwajit Thakur’s precision bowling forced errors, sealing a dramatic finish.
With this win, Falcon Risers Hyderabad remains in 2nd place and is on the brink of playoff qualification. They now turn their focus to their next clash against Bangalore on February 8 at 8 PM.
