West Indies Women took on Pakistan Women in the first ODI at the National Stadium in Karachi on Thursday. West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. The visitors dealt an early blow in the form of Rashada Williams as she departed after scoring one run. Hayley Matthews was joined by Shemaine Campbelle and the duo steadied the wobbling taxi with elegant strokes all over the ground.
Both players stitched an impressive 102-run stand for the second wicket before Campbelle was dismissed by Tuba Hassan on 45. Hassan struck again by plucking out Staphanie Taylor in the same fashion. Chedean Nation fell prey to Nida Dar and West Indies were in dire need of resurgence. Chinelle Henry partnered with Matthews for a brief period and scored 23 runs. Aaliyah Alleyne got herself run out, courtesy of Hassan, and the Windies captain continued her lone assault.
