On Saturday, January 18, at the Multan Cricket Stadium, Pakistan began Day 2 at 143/4, with Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel having already registered half-centuries. They added 44 runs to the overnight score before the southpaw was dismissed by a peach of a delivery by Kevin Sinclair. Shakeel fell 16 runs short of what would have been a well-deserved century.

This wicket turned out to be a shot in the arm for the West Indies bowlers, as they made light work of Pakistan's lower-order. From 187/4, the home side was bowled out for 230. Rizwan was dismissed by Sinclair for a 133-ball 71.

Jomel Warrican and Jayden Seales bagged three wickets each for the Windies. Meanwhile, Sinclair took the big wickets of Shakeel and Rizwan. Gudakesh Motie also chipped in with a wicket.

The West Indies batters had their task cut out against the experienced Pakistan spinners on a pitch that was producing considerable turn. Sajid Khan needed just 17 deliveries to take the first four Windies wickets. Noman Ali joined the party in the 10th over as he opened his account by dismissing Justin Greaves.

Wickets kept tumbling for the visitors as they were reduced to 91/9. This was after Gudakesh Motie contributed with a fighting 19 off 25 balls. Warrican and Seales joined forces and put on a counter-attacking stand where they added 46 runs off just 21 balls. The West Indies were eventually bowled out for 137. Sajid failed to add to his four wickets but Noman finished with figures of 5/39. Abrar Ahmed broke the final partnership by dismissing Seales. Warrican top-scored for the West Indies with an unbeaten 24-ball 31.

Having secured a sizeable lead of 93 runs, Pakistan started strongly in their second essay with the bat. Captain Shan Masood and debutant Muhammad Hurraira added 67 runs for the first wicket in quick time. Warrican eventually dismissed Hurraira in the 16th over. Babar Azam missed out with the bat once again as he departed for 5, becoming Warrican's fifth victim in the Test match.

Masood was unfortunately run-out a few overs later after scoring a fluent 52 off 70 balls. Pakistan finished the day at 109/3, having extended their lead to 202. The road ahead is going to be very difficult for the Caribbean side as the conditions won't get any better for batting.
