After the clean sweep Australia Women completed over England Women in the ODI leg of the Women's Ashes 2025, they followed the same path in the T20I series. The third T20I was emphatically closed out by the hosts by a 72-run margin.
Beth Mooney got going in the very second over of the innings. Her three boundaries in a row set the tone for herself. Only 16 runs were scored in the last three overs of the powerplay. Georgia Voll was the first batter to fall as Alice Capsey got her first breakthrough in her first over of the game. A solid foundation was set by the halfway stage.
Charlie Dean's final over yielded a wicket for her. All of a sudden, Australia's score read 123 at the end of 16 overs. Linsey Smith bowled the penultimate over of Australia's innings and accounted for Annabel Sutherland's wicket. Mooney required 14 runs to rack up her third T20I ton with only an over at her disposal.
The final over of the innings was bowled by Sophie Ecclestone. The left-arm spinner was successful in bowling to her field, with Mooney ending up on a score of 94 off 63 deliveries. England Women needed 163 to salvage a consolation victory in the T20I series.
Darcie Brown was quick to get Australia on the board by striking on the first delivery of her spell. Alice Capsey departed in the subsequent over. Annabel Sutherland was the third Australian to secure a wicket in her first over in the game, as England were reduced to 23 at the end of four overs. Out came Heather Knight to the middle to rescue her side.
A double-wicket over by Georgia Wareham seemed to be the end for England, despite Knight holding one end. Freya Kemp and Dean were the next to depart. The run-chase was wrapped up with Tahlia McGrath getting the better of her opposite number.
