Australia A and South Africa A are scheduled to tour India for a One Day tri-series, which starts on August 17 at the Dr. Gokaraju Liala Gangaaraju ACA Cricket Ground in Vijayawada. Each team will play four matches (two against each other) after which the Final will take place on August 29 at the same venue. Prior to that, South Africa will also play a couple of four-day matches in Bangalore.
Earlier today, Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced the ODI squad of the senior team for their upcoming tour of Sri Lanka. Most recently, they have also put forth both the squad (One Dayers and four-day) for their journey in India. The One Day side will be captained by Khaya Zondo, the Durban born batsman. Apart from him the team also has a few prominent names with a fair amount of international experience.
Some big names in the mix
Temba Bavuma and Farhaan Behardien are the most experienced batsmen in the One Day side. Tabraiz Shamsi and Dane Peterson are a few names who have represented the country at the highest level. The four-day squad has Zondo as their leader as well. With the likes of Beuran Hendricks, Duanne Olivier in their ranks, they have the ability to give the others a run for their money.
Their cricketing fraternity recently lost AB de Villiers and the likes of Dale Steyn are at the fag end of his career. Hence, through these squads, the management should also try and groom players to fill in the massive boots of the cricketers who may not be there in the team a couple of years from now onwards.
