Afghanistan vs Sri Lanka, T20 WC 2022 Match 32 Stats Preview: Players records and approaching milestones
Sri Lankan opener Pathum Nissanka is 62 runs away from reaching the landmark of 1000 runs in T20Is
Sub-continent sides Sri Lanka and Afghanistan lock horns in Match 32 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2022 on November 01 at The Gabba in Brisbane. Mohammad Nabi’s side suffered a five-wicket defeat to England in their opening match of the campaign and then engaged in two abandoned encounters with New Zealand and Ireland at the MCG due to rain. They are placed in the sixth spot with two points while Sri Lanka are in fifth with two points in three games.
The Asia Cup champions started their Super 12 round with a convincing nine-wicket victory over Ireland in Hobart but then got thrashed by hosts Australia by seven wickets and New Zealand by 65 runs. Their qualification chances for the semi-final spot now look bleak as they play their final match against tournament favourites England on November 05.
Nabi and his Afghan team will look to seal their first victory of the campaign against Sri Lanka before they face their last game against the defending champions Australia. The two abandoned matches haven’t helped Afghanistan’s cause in the WC but they would hope for a positive result against the Lankan Lions. They suffered a setback a day before the clash as destructive opener Hazratullah Zazai has been ruled out of the competition due to injury and has been replaced by Gulbadin Naib.
