Australia vs West Indies, 1st T20I: Stats Preview of Players' Records and Approaching Milestones
Veteran David Warner is all set to appear in his 100th T20 international match.
After thrashing West Indies in the three-match one-day international series by a margin of 3-0, the mighty Australians now face West Indies in a three-match T20 international series beginning on Friday, February 09th, 2024. The opening fixture will be played at the Bellerive Oval in Hobart while the remaining games will take place on the 11th and 13th in Adelaide and Perth, respectively.
Notably, the visitors had previously registered a historical victory at the Gabba in Brisbane in the longest format of the game just before the start of the ODI series. The Caribbean side won famously the second encounter by a margin of just eight runs to also level the two-match Test series 1-1. Kraigg Brathwaite and his men scripted the first-ever win for West Indies down under after a gap of 27 long years.
However, the home side then bounced back brilliantly to hand the tourists a drubbing in the ODI series. The action now moves to the shortest international format as it is also a T20 World Cup year. The marquee tournament is all set to be played after the completion of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in June in the USA and West Indies. With the bigger picture in mind, both sides will look to kick-start their preparations for the global event in this series. The Aussies will be led by the all-rounder Mitchell Marsh while the Men in Maroon will be captained by Rovman Powell.
