Bangladesh and India are set to lock horns for the second and final Test of the two-match series. India are leading the series 1-0 and will be looking for a clean sweep against hosts Bangladesh when the two sides meet at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka. In the absence of regular skipper Rohit Sharma, India will be led by KL Rahul.
India won the first game very comfortably, as they defeated Bangladesh by a whopping 188 runs margin. After losing the ODI series 2-1, India bounced back stronger to claim an early lead in the Test series. While KL Rahul has not yet managed to showcase good form in the ongoing series, Test specialist Cheteshwar Pujara and young Shubman Gill are in good touch with the bat.
Pujara and Gill notched up centuries in the previous game which helped India take a massive lead over Bangladesh. Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel, alongside pacer Mohammed Siraj, did a brilliant job in the bowling department. Having claimed the second spot in the World Test Championship points table, the upcoming game will be very much crucial for India as they aim to make it to the summit clash.
BAN vs IND: Test Head-to-Head Record
India have an upper hand over Bangladesh in the Test format and have never lost a game against them. The two sides have clashed 12 times to date, with India winning on 10 occasions. Bangladesh have never won a Test match against India, and thus will be aiming to break the streak.
While India’s chances of making it to the WTC Finals have strengthened, they can not afford to lose any Test match from now on. Bangladesh, on the other hand, have already been knocked out of the race but can try to spoil India’s party.
