India and New Zealand will take on each other in the last group stage match of the Champions Trophy 2025 in Dubai. Both teams have qualified for the semifinals, and the significance of this game is limited to determining who finishes on top of the group and who will be their opponents in the semifinals.

This will be the first meeting in ODIs between the two sides since India beat New Zealand in the semifinals of the 2023 ODI World Cup and the first in the Champions Trophy in 24 years. In these two sides' only previous meeting in the Champions Trophy, New Zealand beat India in a thrilling final in the 2000 edition.

Both teams notched emphatic wins that essentially sealed their place in the semifinals. India took Pakistan down in Dubai, while New Zealand's win over Bangladesh in Rawalpindi confirmed that both India and New Zealand had booked their seats in the last four.

India started strong against arch-rivals Pakistan with the ball, but Mohammad Rizwan and Saud Shakeel staged a fightback with their century stand. Their dismissals ultimately led to a collapse that saw Pakistan lose eight wickets for just 90 runs, with Khushdil Shah making 38 of those. Rohit Sharma got a fast start but went early, after which Virat Kohli and Shubbman Gill stabilised things. Shreyas Iyer made a half-century and shared in a century stand with Kohli to turn the match into a formality. Kohli finally got his hundred with the winning runs.

New Zealand also put in an equally strong performance against Bangladesh, starting even stronger with the ball. Michael Bracewell took his career-best figures in ODIs to stage a top-order collapse, which was handled by skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto. But Bangladesh failed to kick on and finished with a below par total. New Zealand were reduced to 15/2 and 73/3, but Rachin Ravindra's century and Tom Latham's fifty guided New Zealand to a win that sealed a semifinal place for both India and New Zealand.

The pitch is expected to be slow and low and make batting very hard. Chasing will still be the preferred option even if dew is yet to play a role.
