Two teams plagued with a lack of form and a point to prove will take on each other in the fourth match of the Champions Trophy 2025. "Ashes" rivals Australia (AUS) and England (ENG) will open their campaign in the tournament against each other.
Australia have had to deal with sudden loss of personnel having lost as many as five members from their first-choice side. Mitchell Marsh, Josh Hazlewood, Pat Cummins (injuries), Marcus Stoinis (retired) and Mitchell Starc (withdrawn for personal reasons) are all missing for the current ODI World champions. The "Kangaroos" have also had to grapple with the general poor form of their ODI side having lost each of their last two ODI series.
Australia lost both ODIs against Sri Lanka away after losing in the decider against Pakistan at home. Australia though, will be heartened by the fact that they had managed to beat England away after the series went to a decider. England are also going through a loss of form, arguably caused by the general inexperience of their side in this format.
England have each of their last four ODI series, and the worst of it came in the most recent one when they lost 0-3 to India away. England also suffered losses to West Indies away and Australia at home, although both series had to be taken to the decider.
Both teams will walk into this game with a point to prove and hope to arrest their recent slide in form.
