Australia staged an incredible run-chase against England in the Champions Trophy on Saturday. Wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis’ explosive century steered them to a five-wicket win in a pulsating encounter. Earlier, England's opener Ben Duckett hit 165 to push his side to a tournament-record 351/8, a total later surpassed by Australia when they successfully chased down the mammoth target.
Notably, Inglis remained unbeaten with 120* off 86 balls, while Alex Carey (69) and Matthew Short (63) provided crucial half-century contributions, enabling Australia to reach the target with 15 balls remaining.
South Africa's match against Afghanistan
South Africa began their journey toward their first ICC trophy by beating Afghanistan, who were playing in the Champions Trophy for the first time. Star pacer Kagiso Rabada took three wickets. As a result, the Proteas won by 107 runs. Earlier, Ryan Rickelton’s century helped South Africa reach 315/6, with support from Temba Bavuma and Rassie van der Dussen. Besides them, Aiden Markram finished the innings strongly.
